Eilidh and Callum, Dumfries

Eilidh and Callum's day in Dumfries earlier this year was captured by the wonderful duo, Craig and Eva Sanders. As always, it was tough to choose only a selection of photos!

When we met Eilidh, she described her wedding as a relaxed, vintage affair with flowers that looked as though they had just been gathered from the garden. A delicate mix of roses, sweet peas and peonies were grouped together giving a fresh, 'just picked' look.

We continued the relaxed, vintage look at the Reception by mixing our own collection of pretty glassware with teacups and heirlooms belonging to Eilidh and Callum.

Did you spot the quirky table names? Favourite films! Ferris Bueller is one of my faves too!

Congratulations Eilidh and Callum! Thank you making us part of your special day. And thank you to Craig and Eva for allowing us to post these wonderful photos! For more from Eilidh and Callum's day hop over to Style Me Pretty for their feature.

A Drop of South African Sunshine

Karen and Andy got engaged to one another in South Africa and they asked us if we could incorporate a little ray of South African sunshine into their wedding flowers...

How exciting! We had the opportunity to mix exotic pincushion protea with some wonderful hot pink gerberas, cherry brandy roses and a little pop of craspedia yellow.

Bride and Bridesmaid bouquets

The wedding took place mid-October amongst gorgeous Scottish scenery at the Lochside House Hotel, on the banks of Loch Creoch, New Cumnock.

 Pretty little heart-shaped chairbacks

It took all our strength not to stick our fingers in the yummy jam and cream that was oozing out from in between the cake layers!

Autumn Delights at Eastwood House

Congratulations to Amy and Stuart who were married on a beautiful autumn day at the end of October! Kim and I had a fantastic time selecting a delicious array of seasonal flowers, pumpkins and gourds for their celebrations at Eastwood House, Glasgow.

These 'Mr & Mrs' pumpkins were created by the incredibly talented Alison of Scissors, Paper, Stones. Thanks Alison!

Amy's yummy bouquet featuring craspedia, ornithogalum, asclepias, cherry brandy roses, seed heads and some wonderful little explosions of carthamus.

Our new buttonhole holder - a vintage test rack, sitting on top of one of our newly salvaged tree stumps... Thanks Jimmy ;-)

Amy and Stuart gave us free reign to decorate lots of areas within the venue, including this brilliant fireplace.

And table centres good enough to eat!

It's Show Time!

The other day Kim and I popped out for a spot of lunch and a quick wee rummage around Dobbies Garden Centre. In the car park we spotted a rather enormous Dahlia bloom nestled on the back seat of the car in front. It was the size of a football! Surely it's not real?? But lo and behold, as we entered the centre we saw signs for The Scottish National Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society Show. What did we find around the next corner? A room FULL of giant blooms! What a delight!

Remember to pop by and say hello if you are attending The Scottish Wedding Show at the SECC, Glasgow, this weekend :-)

Here are some of our favorites...

These yellow ones reminded me of the 'lion' flower in Alice in Wonderland. He appears at about 11 seconds into this video :-)

Project Shabby Chic

Wire brush, sandpaper, paint and brushes. That can only mean one thing - upcycling! An afternoon plundering the charity shops in Partick followed by a quick stop at B&Q and we were all set to begin 'Project Shabby Chic'.

Step 1: Wear appropriate shabby clothing

Step 2: Move everything outside - it's gonna get messy!

Step 3: Start attacking decades old varnish with all tools at your disposal. N.B. Harder than it looks. You will ache all over the next day.

Step 4: The fun bit - give everything a good undercoat of paint and leave it to dry.

Would you like to see the final result? Pop along and visit our wee stall at any of these fantastic upcoming Wedding Shows:

The Scottish Wedding Show, SECC, Glasgow, 14th & 15th Sept, 10am-6pm.
The Glasgow Wedding Collective Autumn Vintage Style Wedding Fayre, Hillhead Bookclub, Glasgow, 14th Oct, 11am-4pm.

Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens

Hello! I'm Lisa. I've just started working with Kim at Little Botanica and I thought I'd kick things off by introducing myself on the blog.

Here are some of my favourite things...

I'm cat-daft. This is Mildred Pierce. She's 11 years old and I've had her since she was a kitten. She likes fish but not beef and rabbit but not chicken. She has a sweet tooth and will steal the sweetcorn from your pizza. She only drinks from 'human' cups.

When asked what flower I like most, I rack my brains and usually settle upon some kind of foliage instead. I love a good fern.

I'm a tea drinker and I like it really strong with no sugar and only a tiny wee splash of milk. I won't drink my tea cold.

I love tattoos but have a phobia of feet and birds... work that one out...

I'm a member of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust - something Kim and I instantly bonded over! This wee guy came to visit us on my first day in the workshop.

Melissa & Johnny - Glenskirlie

Melissa & Johnny's wedding was on a lovely fresh day in March at Glenskirlie Castle.

Simply stunning photography by Craig and Eva Sanders.....It has been tough to select images from the day as there are so many gorgeous shots to choose from!

When we met Melissa she described her wedding style as Natural, elegant but a bit rustic. She wanted soft colours with gentle greenery and encouraged us to be inspired by vintage jars, lace, brown paper, pearls, and string.

I love the mix of flowers for Melissa's bouquet .... peonies, viburnum, gyp, roses..... simple but so pretty!

The reception was in keeping with the gentle natural style of the day, we softened vintage jars with lace and string with little pearls and filled them with beautiful mixed blooms.

We trimmed the layers of the cake with raw hessian and beautiful lace, topped it off with soft flowers and little flashes of lace. Melissa also put together an amazing sweetie table and was there before the ceremony to make sure the finishing touches were just so..... a lot of creativity and effort by Melissa gave her a simply stunning wedding day!

Congratulations Melissa & Johnny!

X
